A wide variety of activities are tailored to the interests of Avonlea residents.

The small attention to detail has brought immense amounts of joy and contentment to Dad’s heart and wellbeing that Robin understood. The employees are always greeting us with cheerful smiles, with great disposition and more importantly the employees are expedient to communicate and issues or concerns they may have had with Dad. Avonlea was founded on Keith's desire to find a safe and nurturing place for his mom, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Many of our caregivers have personal experience in caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's or various other needs. The lessons learned are reflected in Avonlea's care and philosophy. During Jessie's last days when her health was failing, the care provided by your staff was exceptional.

Our facility is a bungalow style allowing for easy wheelchair access and mobility. We have an outdoor patio and garden that the residents can access on their own during warm months. A fully qualified nurse practitioner visits us once every three weeks. Our Activity Coordinator organizes group activities or one on one activities.
As I said I was reluctant to move Dad; now I think it is the best thing that could have happened. I have been particularly impressed by the level of communication from the staff about Dad and the fact that they have taken the time to get to know him and what to do to keep him happy. We are full fee paying clients and I believe we get good value for money at Avonlea. We provide 24 hour Registered Nursing cover for our Hospital care home as well as our Dementia care homes. The Board has initiated a number of measures to try to attract new residents. These measures have included paid advertising on radio and on Facebook; creation of a website promoting the manor; an up to date pamphlet and a table display.

Each afternoon an activity person provides some sort of activity for all the occupants that can catch their interest and challenge them in some way. The concept of small homes ideally suited Jessie, giving her the independence of her own room in a warm, comfortable, modern environment. Mum moved into Avonlea in March 2010, the staff and management of Avonlea made the transition from mums previous retirement home to her new home at Avonlea a very stress free experience for us.
